Players of Utica Presents the Sidesplitting Charles Morey Farce, Laughing Stock
UTICA, N.Y., 03/20/2024 – Players of Utica continues its 2023-2024 Season with the hilarious behind-the-scenes comedy Laughing Stock.
We follow along backstage as “The Playhouse” (a small new England summer theater held in an old barn) prepares for its upcoming season of Dracula, Hamlet, and Charley’s Aunt. Hijinks and interpersonal drama arise as new actors and directors clash with seasoned veterans, all while the folks behind the scenes wonder how in the world they’re going to pull this off.
The show follows everything from outrageous auditions to haphazard rehearsals, the catastrophic opening night to the warm close of the season... and everything in between!
The show, directed by Stephen Wagner, features Lonnie Etter as Gordon page, Josh Thompson as Jack Morris, Jes Rogan as Susannah Huntsmen, Lexie Carey as Mary Pierre, James McNeil as Tyler Taylor, Eric Almleaf as Vernon Volker, Paul Boehlert as Richfield Hawksley, Michele Buday as Daisy Coates, Vin Cavo as Craig Conlin, Janet Hanna as Sarah McKay, Mike O’Brien as Henry Mills, Chuck Bastien as Braun Oakes, and Kelly Maida as Karma Schneider.
Laughing Stock continues Players of Utica’s long history of high-quality entertainment, being the oldest continually operating community theatre in New York State and one of the five oldest in the entire U.S. — a distinction that our area can be very proud of.

Fridays, April 5 and April 12 at 7:30 p.m.
Saturdays, April 6 and April 13 at 2:00 p.m.
Sundays, April 7 and April 14 at 2:00 p.m.
