Players of Utica Presents Thoughtful Dramatic Comedy, “Absent Friends”

UTICA, N.Y., 03/13/2025 – How do you comfort your friend who has recently lost his fiancée? What if you’ve never met her? British playwright Alan Ayckbourn answers these questions and more in his dramatic comedy Absent Friends, directed by Eric Almleaf and presented by Players of Utica this April.

The Sunday Times called Absent Friends “Mr. Ayckbourn’s finest play, and if it is the saddest and most moving thing that he has written, it is also the most clear-sighted and the funniest.  It makes greater demands on the emotional maturity and perceptiveness of its audience than any of Mr. Ayckbourn’s previous work.”

Be sure to come out and see the talented cast put on a show you’re sure to be talking about all the way home. Actors include Thom Capozzella (Paul), Fiona Helmuth (Marge), Tori Peters (Evelyn), Eileen Tiller (Diana), Jonathan Brooks (John), and Chuck Bastien (Colin).

Performances for Absent Friends:

  • Friday, April 4 at 7:30 p.m.

  • Saturday, April 5 at 2:00 p.m.

  • Sunday, April 6 at 2:00 p.m.
