Players of Utica Cancels the Remainder of its 2019-2020 Season But Will Offer Online Entertainment

With heavy hearts, Players of Utica is officially canceling the rest of its 2019-2020 season. As New York State’s oldest continually operating community theatre, we hate to cancel shows, but in this current health crisis, we must be sensitive to the safety of our audience and our theatre family and must be responsible and prudent.

We’re hoping to include the two remaining shows of the season — I Hate Hamlet and Always… Patsy Cline — in next season’s (2020-2021) programming, and we will soon inform our 2019-2020 season subscribers how they will be compensated for this change. We’ll work to make certain you are satisfied.

Meanwhile, until the crisis has passed and we can resume regular performances (we have a great season planned for 2020-2021!) Players is going to be hosting a variety of “virtual entertainment” in the form of a #VirtualOpenMic — video of songs, skits, poetry, music, readings, and more — on our website and Facebook page. We also plan to offer “Players Radio Theatre” — audio performances of one-act and full-length plays. We can’t help it! We need to perform!
