Auditions – “One Christmas Eve”
A Christmas Show in July?!
Hey – It’s a Mike D. Burke comedy, so you know it’s going to be chilly-hot fun no matter what month it is.
Audition dates: June 10 (Mon.) and 11 (Tues.) @ 7 pm at the theatre.
Show date: Saturday, July 27, 7:30 pm.
The play: Santa has a secret mission for one special North Pole elf: deliver the mysterious Lantern of Diogenes (okay, it’s a snow globe — but powerful) to one of Santa’s agents in the world of the humans (which happens to be a bar in New York Mills). Well, things don’t go quite as expected… but the result is a swirling, frosty blizzard of elf-tastic joy and laughs.
NOTE: This will be a staged reading of the play (1 performance only!), so although actors will be expected to be as familiar with the text as possible, it will not have to be memorized.
Here’s the cast we need (people with lots of energy – college-age kids, this is your opportunity!):
Steve the Scarecrow (any age) – The narrator for our little story.
Nicole (female, 20s) – A cute elf who’s worked for Santa for 6,000 years (so far) and loves every part of her job and the whole Christmas season. She is, however, quite naïve sometimes.
Santa Claus (male, 30s and up) – The burly man with a belly full of jelly and a beard so white you’ll go blind.
Miranda (female, 20s) – An elf who can’t stand her job, but she’s got to pay the bills somehow. She longs to be powerful.
Jack (male, 20s) – The mythical Jack Frost of legend. He’s disgruntled from living among humans for so long.
Twinkle Toes (male, any age) – The proverbial villain of the piece.
Darlene (female, 20s) – Nicole and Miranda’s roommate. She’s a book-nerd, quick with the sarcasm.
Uncle (male, any age) – Owner of the bar.
2 or 3 Bar Patrons (male and female, any age).
